Introduction to Basic Navigation - North Devon & Exmoor - 27th June 2027

Gain confidence in the outdoors by attending this basic introduction to navigation. 
 
We'll show you how to locate yourself on the map by using traditional methods along with using the OS Locate App on your phone.
 
Other topics covered will be identifying features on the ground in relation to the map, understanding contour lines, hand railing linear features to get to an objective and much more. 
 
Participants will be expected to purchase their own OS map at an approximate cost of £15. This will also aid future personal planning of local routes and continued development.
 
There is no qualification for attending this day, just a basic insight into map reading and navigation.
