Introduction to Basic Navigation - North Devon & Exmoor - 27th June 2027

Gain confidence in the outdoors by attending this basic introduction to navigation. 
 
We'll show you how to locate yourself on the map by using traditional methods along with using the OS Locate App on your phone.
 
Other topics covered will be identifying features on the ground in relation to the map, understanding contour lines, hand railing linear features to get to an objective and much more. 
 
To aid future personal planning of local routes and continued development, participants will be expected to purchase their own OS map and compass for the day. This is an approx cost of £30 (exact details upon booking).
 
To make use of the long June days, participants will also be required to attend a few hours teaching and practical on the Friday evening on Codden Hill (approx 6pm - 8pm).
 
The main event will be on Exmoor on the Saturday. Details TBC.
