Ledbury to Great Malvern- Guided Walk- One Night B&B (Ledbury)- 3rd & 4th Oct 26
We're back on the Malvern Hills for an autumn adventure across the rural counties of both Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Follow in the footsteps of Elgar, Tolkien and CS Lewis who were all inspired by this glorious landscape to write classics such as Land of Hope and Glory, and create locations for Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia.
We'll begin this classic walk from the market town of Ledbury, famed for its many Tudor timber framed buildings and 16th century Market House. From here, the route will head through the Eastnor Castle estate and up onto the iconic ridge of the Malvern Hills.
The views are unrivalled with The Black Mountains, The Shropshire Hills, The Cotswolds and Worcester Cathedral all easily visible.
We'll top out on the Worcestershire Beacon, the highest point in the county and famed for its granite and brass toposcope on the summit, the perfect photo opportunity.
The final part of the route takes us through Great Malvern town itself for refreshments and a mooch and then onto its small but very ornate train station, built in 1861 to impress wealthy Victorians visiting the spa town. From here, we'll catch the train and pass back through the hills via the Colwall tunnel and back to Ledbury for evening meal and B&B.
All in all, a great day out!
